Why Ruben Amorim should sign this underrated midfielder for Man United

Manchester United have been searching for a midfielder, with Ruben Amorim not entirely satisfied with his current options.

Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes have been Amorim's first-choice options, but Casemiro's current contract expires in the summer. Fernandes has been linked with a move away, which could result in a significant boost in profit for Man United.

Amorim has used both Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo off the bench, but Mainoo is still said to be pushing for a move away in the January transfer window. The Englishman is unhappy with his playing time and wants to work his way into the England squad for the 2026 World Cup.

United are looking at several midfielders, with the likes of Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton being big names on their list. Both are likely to cost a hefty fee, which could see United try to find a cheaper alternative.

One name that is being linked to Amorim's side is Sunderland's Noah Sadiki, according to a report from TEAMtalk. The DR Congo international has lit the Premier League up in the 2025/26 season, and Sadiki could be United's next midfield star.

Why Man United should sign Noah Sadiki from Sunderland?

Sadiki has dominated Sunderland's midfield, with United still trying to find the perfect defensive midfielder to hold the center of the pitch.

The latest performance by Sadiki came against rivals Newcastle, and Sadiki produced a marvelous showing in the 1-0 Sunderland win.

Sadiki is only 20 but has been pivotal in Sunderland's nice run to start their league campaign. The DR Congo midfielder has proven he can handle the Premier League, which is something Amorim is keen to bring to his side.

Sadiki has the technical abilities that the league demands, while also exerting his physicality on the field. Sunderland's manager has also praised the 20-year-old for his desire to keep learning and improving his performances.

Sadiki's composure on and off the ball would provide Man United with the presence that they have been wanting in their midfield. His decision-making would be another massive boost for United's midfield.

The midfielder also has an eye for starting an attack, despite being a more defensive-minded player. Sadiki has been one of the best carriers of the ball this season, with most of his runs progressing the ball towards his opposition's goal.

United will face an uphill battle to sign Sadiki, with Sunderland seemingly unwilling to let one of their key players go after just signing him in the summer. However, several teams, including United and Chelsea, might be prepared to offer a generous amount for the DR Congo midfielder.

Sunderland purchased Sadiki for just £15m, with his value now surging closer towards £50m. Despite the rise in value, Sadiki would remain a cheaper choice for United, ahead of their other choices in midfield.
